Many people from all over the world have visited the Grand CanyonGrand Canyon | (gra'nd KA'N-yu'n) | Located entirely in northern Arizona, the park encompasses 277 miles of the Colorado River and adjacent uplands. One of the most spectacular examples of erosion anywhere in the world, Grand Canyon is unmatched in the incomparable vistas it offers to visitors on the rim. | . From what I
understand, it's more common for someone who's only visited ArizonaArizona | (air-i'-ZON-u') | The State of Arizona comprises the extreme south-western portion of the United States. It is bounded on the north by Utah, on the east by New Mexico, on the south by Mexico, and on the west by California and Nevada. | to have been
to the canyon than it has for a native. I can attest to that, as I'm a
native and only saw the canyon myself for the first time about two years
ago.
I always knew it was there, but just never felt inclined
to go visit it until I happened to be in the Flagstaff area with about
a day left before having to head back to Phoenix. Originally, it wasn't
part of the planned trip, just a way to spend some time during the last
day.
However, I am very glad that I ended up spending some time
there. I visited the south rim, as is the most common side to visit.
And I have to say that the photos I've seen have never really brought it
to life. You go there thinking that it's going to look just like the pictures
you've seen. And while it really does, it also doesn't at the same time.
It's not just a big hole in the ground :-).
I'm curious about
