I guess it depends where you get "stuck" living. I moved here from RI last June, settled in West Phoenix (84th And Camelback) and it SUCKS! The housing development is only 7 years old with an HOA, but..... many of the homeowners have moved out in the last year, and the new residents are "foreign" renters with no respect for anyone. Loud "fiestas", barking dogs, junk cars in the yards, etc. Do yourself a favor CHECK THE NEIGHBORHOOD OUT FIRST, I wish I did. As for the jobs, expect much lower than average pay for unskilled labor, good pay for skilled trades and white collar types. Beware though, many jobs are scarce!

Or post here first :-).. there are some knowledgable people that can tell you exactly what you want to avoid, and what neighborhoods are great for your lifestyle.

...as it should be.

That's going to depend on your skill level. I've never had any problem finding a job. In fact, I was hired for every job I've ever applied for.

I know other people that have had very bad luck finding jobs. But those people didn't have any skills either. And it makes perfect sense that it would be hard to find a job if you don't know how to do anything.

FYI - i just moved here from San Diego and the people here are much more friendly. But that happens all across the US in my opinion. The more south you go the friendlier the people.
